BMGCLICC Expands His Range with the Introspective “Hermes Birkin”
In partnership with Lost Boy Entertainment
For an artist whose music has largely been defined by discipline, survival, and hardened perspective, “Hermes Birkin” marks a deliberate shift in tone for BMGCLICC. Where his earlier release “Victims “ leaned into the armor required to navigate North Minneapolis and the consequences of street life, this new record opens a different door. It introduces restraint, admiration, and a kind of emotional patience rarely associated with his public persona.
A Different Kind of Encounter
At the centre of “Hermes Birkin” lies a simple but complicated premise: meeting someone who feels undeniable, only to realise she belongs to a situation already in motion. Rather than recklessly disrupt it, BMGCLICC chose to observe. From a distance, admiration turned into intention.
“She was extremely beautiful, but it was deeper than that,” he explains. “It was her vibe. At first, I respected the situation. But after a while, I felt like I had to pull out all the stops.”
The Meaning Behind “Hermes Birkin”
The title itself carries weight. Referencing the iconic Hermes Birkin, the name in the context of the song represents willingness. Whatever her version of a Birkin might be, material or emotional, he is prepared to meet that standard. The gesture becomes symbolic of effort. It is about showing up fully when something feels rare.
What makes “Hermes Birkin” particularly striking is its internal balance. The record acknowledges her existing relationship, paired with a quiet confidence in what he can offer. “There’s a balance,” BMGCLICC says. “I’m laying my feelings out there, but at the same time, I’m saying if you come my way, I’ll protect you. I’ll provide safety and stability.”
A Deliberate Sonic Shift
Sonically, “Hermes Birkin” stands in sharp contrast to his recent street record “Victims.” The shift was by design. If “Victims” introduced the hardened edge of Living to be Hated, then “Hermes Birkin” leans toward what he calls “dying to be loved.” The contrast underscores a philosophy central to his artistry: two sides exist within the same man, and neither cancels the other.
The track’s origin came unexpectedly. When BMGCLICC’s Engineer SMG BLANKO received the beat from the song’s producer “sir” Luminous, BMGCLICC walked into the studio. A few lines were enough to spark recognition. “Soon as I heard it, I knew I was going to turn the ladies up,” he recalls. BMGCLICC jumped on the record, and the emotional direction crystallised quickly.
Expanding the Story
Despite its romantic undertone, writing “Hermes Birkin” did not alter his outlook on love. His belief remains straightforward: when encountering a high-quality woman, intention must be matched with effort. “When BMGCLICC decides he’s going to love, he loves hard,” he says.
Within the larger scope of his journey, “Hermes Birkin” signals expansion rather than reinvention. Much of his earlier work focused on the realities of the streets and the resilience required to survive them. This new chapter looks to broaden the emotional range without abandoning authenticity.
For an artist whose life has spanned incarceration, entrepreneurship, and cultural influence within Minneapolis, “Hermes Birkin” offers something different: vulnerability without weakness, admiration without chaos. It confirms that BMGCLICC’s evolution is not about abandoning his origins, but about revealing every layer of who he is becoming now that the spotlight is on him.
