BOTZY Faces Time, Growth, and Renewal on ‘Hurry Up and Wait’
In partnership with BOTZY
BOTZY and his latest single, “Hurry Up and Wait,” encapsulate a restless equilibrium between patience and growth; this dualism characterizes the artist as well as the current times. As an artist familiar with melding contemplation with experimental production, BOTZY employs the track to question what it means to grow up before you know it and find confidence anew after years of tumult.
“The title is sort of tongue-in-cheek,” explains BOTZY. “It’s sarcastically mocking that feeling of perpetual urgency we all have. You can go as fast as you want, but life is still going to make you wait.” That push-and-pull was the feeling-based anchor of the single and an exploration of growing up too quickly, how to learn to slow down, and ultimately come to peace with the process.
A Return to Raw Energy on “Hurry Up and Wait”
Musically, “Hurry Up and Wait” marks both a return and an evolution. BOTZY has spent the past year experimenting with sound and visuals from the warmth of “Good For Me” to the redemption-driven “Head In The Clouds.” Here, he leans back into raw textures that recall his early noise-rap roots while refining them with the precision of an artist who’s spent years studying his craft. “I came up on artists like dälek and Darc Mind,” he says. “This record feels like a natural return to that raw energy, just filtered through a more seasoned lens.”

The single’s striking visual, directed by Fallacie Studio’s Daniel Foster, Vedant Kothari, and Rohan Guha Ramabhadran, brings that energy to life through a Film Noir-inspired lens. Shot in New York City, the video channels a sense of tension and introspection that mirrors the track’s tone. BOTZY credits the creative team for shaping the vision: “We built a strong foundation together, then I stepped back and let them lead. What they delivered perfectly captured the atmosphere living inside the song.”
Personal Reflections and Future Directions
Lyrically, the single is very effective on an intuitive level. BOTZY addresses the problems of depression, responsibility, and fatherhood, with muted references to his daughter. “It’s my story,” he describes, “but one that many people are likely able to identify with themselves.”

And as “Hurry Up and Wait” likely closes the book on releases for the year, the stage is set for the next album by BOTZY to be titled Sorry, Where Was I?, one that will chart the next direction for his compositional work. “There’s lots coming up for 2026,” notes BOTZY, “but I thought this one was the ultimate statement piece before everything comes down the pike.”
