How Willie J. Turned Faith and Hustle Into a String of #1 Singles
In partnership with PURE MISSION ENTERTAINMENT
Willie J. doesn’t fit neatly into a single category, and that seems to be the point. The East St. Louis native is a 14-time #1 bestselling author, a six-time #1 Amazon Music recording artist, a Maxwell Leadership Certified Coach, a producer, a poet, and the founder and CEO of Pure Mission Entertainment, which reached #1 on NY Weekly’s Top 10 Fastest Growing Companies list in 2021. He calls his sound “Kingdom Love Music”—a label that doesn’t map neatly onto any existing genre template, which may be part of the appeal.
A Run of Chart-Topping Singles
Between late 2025 and early 2026, Willie J. put together a prolific run of Amazon Music chart hits. It started with “Couldn’t Imagine,” a pop single released in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness that reached #1 on the Amazon Music Movers & Shakers chart. Then came “Without U” in December 2025, a #1 entry on the Amazon Music Pop Charts dedicated to raising awareness for child and human trafficking. In January 2026, “Thinking,” a collaboration with Billboard #1 Gospel recording artist Marcus Cole, hit #1 on Amazon Movers & Shakers across all genres. A surprise Valentine’s Week release, “Be With You,” followed and reached #1 on the Amazon R&B Charts.

Accelerating the Run With Eternal Love, Vol. 1
Then the pace picked up. Willie J. and his PME Dream Team released Eternal Love, Vol. 1, a surprise five-song EP that hit #1 on Amazon Music Movers & Shakers across all genres and became an R&B bestseller for albums. The single “Every Chance I Get” reached #1 on Amazon Music Hot New R&B Releases.
The Story Behind the Numbers
The chart positions are notable, but the personal history behind them adds context. Willie J. has survived car accidents, the loss of close loved ones and friends, an incident that left him cut by a blade, and a near-fatal crash. He spent roughly 20 years building toward this moment. When he says “God is Paramount,” his now-signature declaration, it isn’t branding. It is the thesis of his entire career. “God is the only reason I’m still alive,” he says. “I’m not religious at all. I’m just in love with the Creator who created me.”
Faith as Foundation
That faith threads through everything Pure Mission Entertainment produces. The company, now eight years old, operates under the slogans “Creating Hope Through Arts, Love, Business, and Entertainment” and “Empowering People, Changing Lives.” His bestselling personal development book, Never Stop Winning, Vol. 1 (Win Your Way), achieved #1 International Bestseller status across multiple countries and categories while supporting Breast Cancer Awareness. His poetry collection, Goodbye Past, Hello Future, became a #1 bestseller in categories including African Poetry and Christian Poetry across multiple countries during a surprise Valentine’s Day release.
Building a Team From the Ground Up
None of this has happened in a vacuum. Willie J. is quick to credit the team around him: business partner and PME President Aaron Emig, Marketing and Sales Coordinator Steve Kidd, the Muzic Doctorz production family of Theo and Louis Harden (whom he calls his “bros for life”), the producers at EMP Productions behind the original “Couldn’t Imagine” single, and producers Ric and Thadeus who worked on “Without U.” “We started from the bottom and now we’re here by God’s grace,” he says.
A Growing Media Footprint
His media presence has expanded alongside the music. During the same week Eternal Love, Vol. 1 was topping charts, Willie J.’s digital cover story with The Source magazine went live. He has completed interviews with ABC30 and has been working with the LA Connection Comedy Theatre under the direction of Kent Skov, the improv coach known for developing talents like Will Ferrell and Josh Groban. His work has been featured across multiple outlets.
What Comes Next
With official music videos for all five Eternal Love singles now in development, Willie J. and Pure Mission Entertainment are positioning for their next chapter. He describes his sound as a blend of R&B, soul, pop, and hip hop, but insists the core is something different: “Kingdom Love Music and Life Music from the soul. God is love. So it comes from Him.”
For a man who spent two decades building toward this run, the momentum feels less like a breakthrough and more like an arrival. Willie J. gives the credit upward. “God is Paramount,” he repeats. “He gets all the glory.”
