Introducing This Bliss: A Sonic Fusion of Music, Art, and Community Building
In partnership with Snow Cone Records

Boston-based electronic duo This Bliss — the husband-and-wife team of Jess Baggia and Nick Zampiello — have carved out a distinct voice in the electronic music world, one that’s equal parts emotional, experimental, and immersive. Fusing melodic songwriting with analog synthesizers and rich production textures, their music balances the warmth of nostalgia with the edge of innovation. It’s a sound that doesn’t just fill a room — it transforms it.
Their upcoming album, Grave of Sound, marks a bold step forward. Set for release on September 12, 2025, the record blends polyphonic choral samples, lush electronic instrumentation, and live vocals into cinematic, three-part harmonies that stretch the boundaries of genre. Tracks like the haunting title single, “Grave of Sound” (out June 6) and “Anima Complex” (releasing August 1) showcase their signature interplay of precision and emotion, with the voice serving not only as the lyrical core but also as a textured instrument in its own right.
The duo will release their album at Synth-tember, an event they launched to celebrate the intersection of electronic music and technology. This year’s edition opens on the same day as the album’s release, offering a fitting backdrop for the debut of Grave of Sound. While Synth-tember highlights their broader commitment to the electronic arts, This Bliss remains focused on pushing the boundaries of their sound — and inviting listeners into a world that feels at once futuristic and deeply human.
The Unique Essence of Their Music
The duo’s distinctive approach to music can be traced back to their intentional blending of modernity and nostalgia. “We create music that doesn’t fit neatly into a single genre,” explains Baggia. “By incorporating traditional song forms and analog instruments, our sound has a nostalgic quality.” She adds that their upcoming album draws heavily on classical-inspired choral sampling while embracing the modern nuances of electronic music through MIDI and sampling techniques. “The result is a blend of electronic, pop, classical, and folk genres that we enjoy.”
While their sound has a palpable pop sensibility, the duo aims for accessibility without sacrificing innovation. “A test of good songwriting is whether you remember the song after you hear it,” Zampiello notes. “Even though our music isn’t commercial, we create memorable moments and hooks.”
Embracing Performance Art
This Bliss’s creative evolution is defined by significant shifts, particularly in how they present their music. “We started with a traditional rock lineup but streamlined our setup into a duo that functions more like a live art piece,” explains Baggia. Their extensive background in music synthesis led them naturally to integrate video synthesis, marking a distinctive evolution in their artistic expression.
Synth-tember: Community and Creativity
The genesis of Synth-tember was both whimsical and meaningful. “We coined the term as a little joke about electronic music,” says Zampiello, “but then realized it could be so much more.” The event is designed to foster interactivity, connection, and community. The 2025 edition promises to feature more interactive installations than ever, such as a “magic mirror” utilizing video synthesis and modified ATMs dispensing psychedelic visuals instead of currency.
Looking toward future iterations of the festival, they express a desire to partner with various arts and technology organizations across Greater Boston to extend their reach and enhance community awareness. Reflecting on the impact of the inaugural event in 2024, Baggia shares, “Our favorite part was meeting people who had never visited the space before. Their excitement interacting with the art was delightful.”
Unveiling Grave of Sound
As for their new music, the title track “Grave of Sound” creates a rich atmosphere that sets the tone for the entire album. “This song blends classical choral samples with modern elements, creating a genre-bending experience,” explains Zampiello. The album’s themes navigate the parallels between music and spiritual rituals, delving into the significance of creation in relation to the artist.
Their upcoming single, “Anima Complex,” scheduled for release on August 1, explores deeper psychological themes. “It challenges society’s idealized notions of femininity and beauty,” Baggia explains, highlighting a powerful instrumental section made entirely of live-chopped vocal samples.
During Synth-tember‘s opening reception, This Bliss plans to incorporate their new music into a vibrant live performance, seamlessly weaving together sound and visuals. “We’re excited to present the entire album during the event, which will feature live video synthesis,” Zampiello promises.
Looking Ahead: Community and Connection
As This Bliss embarks on this new chapter, they remain open to connecting with fans and fellow artists. “Please reach out to us! Share our music and our message,” Baggia invites. Their commitment to fostering a sense of community and collaboration remains resolute as they continue to explore the boundaries of electronic music.
