Chris Pratt has teased that filming for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3’ could be near, after releasing a behind the scenes video on Tuesday (October 19).

Pratt will reprise his role as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord alongside returning writer and director James Gunn.

In the new video, Pratt filmed in selfie mode from his trailer wearing the space outlaw’s signature sideburns.

“What’s up everybody, Chris Pratt here,” he said. “I’m on the set of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3’ and this is day one, that’s why these sick-ass mutton chops are back, pretty sweet. I’m very excited to be here.”

‘The Suicide Squad’ director Gunn later tweeted that filming hadn’t officially begun, and Pratt was just running camera tests.

“Despite stories to the contrary, we haven’t started shooting #GotGVol3 yet (but we are pretty close),” he wrote.

When a Twitter user followed up to ask what Pratt was referring to in his video, Gunn clarified: “Chris is on set and we’re rehearsing and doing camera tests and stuff – so it’s his “first day” like it was my “first day” many months ago – but actual shooting is a while off.”

Pratt continued in the video speaking about Rob Lowe’s new podcast ‘Parks and Recollection’, which revisits the sitcom ‘Parks and Recreation’.

In July Gunn spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the third instalment in the ‘Guardians’ franchise, revealing that it will be a “heavier” story.

“For ‘Guardians 3’, the script has basically been written for a long time. I’ve been playing with it in little ways over the years, but it’s basically stayed the same since three years ago. It’s pretty heavy actually. It’s a heavier story, so it’s an emotional process to go through.”

A ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special’ is also set to premiere on Disney+ in December 2022.

“Oh, that’s easy. That’s a blast,” Gunn said of the project. “I wrote that a couple of months ago, and I’m really, really happy with it. I’m going to shoot that at the same time as ‘Guardians 3’. So we’re using some of the same sets. I think it’s going to be a good holiday special.”
