Go behind the scenes of Rolling Stone UK’s cover shoot with Danny Dyer

Go behind the scenes of our shoot with a national treasure...

By Nick Reilly

Danny Dyer is the cover star of issue 27 of Rolling Stone UK – go behind the scenes of Danny’s cover shoot in our new video below.

The East End icon opens up on becoming a national institution, as well as teasing the next season of Rivals in our open and wide-ranging new cover interview.

In our BTS chat, Danny is asked which of his characters would make the best Prime Minister – and soon opts for Rivals‘ Freddie Jones.

“He is a good leader. He’s kind. He’s smart. Everything these fucking politicians ain’t now,” explains Dyer.

“I think he definitely would be leading the nation back to some sort of humility. But we need more working class people in politics. There’s no two fucking ways about that.”

Elsewhere in the cover feature, Dyer discussed his despair at the state of UK politics in 2026, saying he hopes for a “big reset”. He said: “We’re just so fucking divided right now. The working classes, no matter what colour your skin is, are fighting each other and the elites are taking the fucking piss. It’s now very apparent they’re taking the piss, but instead of everyone coming together and looking up, we’re just fighting and blaming each other. It’s petrifying to be honest with you, I don’t know why we’ve digressed so much as human beings.”

He also discussed his experiences of going to rehab in South Africa and what it allowed him to find within himself.
