5 albums you need to hear this week

With music from FKA twigs, Lewis Capaldi, Picture Parlour, Celeste and 5 Seconds of Summer

By Rolling Stone UK

In the age of streaming, it’s never been easier to listen to new music — but with over 60,000 new songs added to Spotify every day, it’s also never been harder to know what to put on. Every week, the team at Rolling Stone UK will run down some of the best new releases that have been added to streaming services.

This week, we’ve highlighted records by FKA twigs, Lewis Capaldi, Picture Parlour, Celeste and 5 Seconds of Summer.

FKA twigs – EUSEXUA Afterglow

Titling her new EUSEXUA companion album Afterglow might have suggested that FKA twigs was set to use her second album of 2025 to take things from the pulverising, euphoric beats of the club towards contemplative, hazy conversations back at hers for the afters. Press play on opening track ‘Love Crimes’, though, and it seems she has simply stepped outside for a cigarette break, before returning inside to be smacked in the face with techno bass even harder and more ferocious than anything on the first album.

Lewis Capaldi – Survive EP

This latest collection of songs from Lewis Capaldi is described by the man himself as his “most raw and personal to date”, and the result is something truly remarkable. It’s a snapshot of his time away from music to focus on his mental health and offers searing clarity into the reality of the situation. As the title track suggests, he’s come out the other end with a collection of songs that rank among his very best.

Picture Parlour – The Parlour

Landing a few years after they emerged as one of the most exciting new voices in British guitar music, Picture Parlour’s debut LP The Parlour is an immersive and luxurious introduction to their world. Defined by the smooth, sultry sounds of ’70s rock that have also echoed in latter day Arctic Monkeys music, the duo’s debut record comes good on vocalist Katherine Parlour’s wish to make an album “that makes people want to try and pick up a guitar, or sing—to inspire people to have a go and try playing themselves.”

Celeste – Woman of Faces

Since being thrust into the spotlight five years ago, Celeste has taken a step back before re-emerging with new album Woman of Faces. The record documents the highs and lows of this time, and how to recalibrate yourself to come back stronger. She does this with a striking new jazz-influenced sound and the determination of a singer hellbent on making her mark.

5 Seconds of Summer – EVERYONE’S A STAR!

As 5 Seconds of Summer note on recent single ‘Boyband’, they’ve long been in a position where their very being ‘irritates the metalheads’. But here is a record where they come out swinging to plant their flag in the ground and show they’re capable of rocking with the best of them. There’s also a considerable amount of growth too, with ‘Evolve’ looking back at the realities of fame and picking up fans when your first big gigs were supporting One Direction. Now, they’ve delivered an album which shows they’re firmly in the big leagues on their own merit.
