The 2023 edition of the Amex Gold Unsigned initiative held its final showcase in London last week, with special guest Mike Skinner on DJ duties.

Across this year, the programme has mentored six unsigned artists and will help them to receive industry support, record deals, sync arrangements and more.

On November 30, the 2023 showcase took place at Tufnell Park venue The Dome which has been refurbished as part of the initiative, and saw Skinner DJ, with other guests including Kano.

Discussing the programme, shortlisted act Simon A said: “It’s been really informative to gain experience from all walks of music life and getting the opportunity to learn and hear from all these different perspectives. Even soundchecking was super fun – this is the biggest venue I’ve ever played. It’s 500 people – it should be fun, to engage with that many people. To see everyone show up and get involved and to see all the other artists perform as well.”

Over 3,000 acts applied to this year’s showcase, with six then chosen for the showcase final. This event followed a Mentor Day earlier in November, which saw all shortlisted artists able to meet with and learn from artists, agents, producers and publishers from across the music industry.

Panels and topics included vocal masterclasses and classes offering advice on ‘how to use TikTok to get your music heard’, ‘how to get chosen for festivals and tour support’, ‘how to get
noticed’ and more.
