Arctic Monkeys are set to return with their first new material since 2022 this week, with a new song imminent.

As had been rumoured, the band have contributed to a new project from charity War Child.

Earlier this month, War Child hinted at a new charity album release which would follow the classic 1995 record Help, which featured Oasis, Radiohead, Blur and more.

Now, it has been confirmed that details from an “upcoming project” will be shared at 3pm GMT on Thursday (January 22), alongside a new song from Arctic Monkeys.

It will be the band’s first new music since the release of their 2022 album, The Car.

Reviewing The Car upon its release, Rolling Stone UK wrote: “It’s a record that builds on the sonic palette of their last album, while making things more grander, colourful and cinematic. The result is some of the greatest songs of their career.”

The band headlined Glastonbury for a third time in 2023, before ending their world tour in Ireland that autumn, marking their final gigs to date.
