Irish rockers Cardinals have shared their latest single ‘Unreal’, as well as sharing details of an upcoming UK tour.

The Cork group, who recently featured in Rolling Stone UK’s Ones To Watch for 2024, lean into classic guitar-rock sounds on their latest offering, which follows on from their 2023 single ‘Roseland’.

“Unreal was written in the back of a Ford Transit van that I happened to be living in at the time,” said frontman Euan Manning of their latest track.

“It reminds me of warm days spent on the beaches at home back in Cork. I remember learning a Beach Boys song, taking one of the chords from it, and building a whole new song, this one, around it.”

As for those latest live dates, appearances at Brighton’s The Great Escape Festival and Brixton’s legendary windmill are just two of the shows that the group will head out on the road for this spring.

You can check the dates out in full below.

Cardinals live:

8th-16th SXSW, Austin

May
9th Hare & Hounds, Birmingham
11th Yes (Basement), Manchester
12th McChullis, Glasgow

Describing the group earlier this year, Rolling Stone UK wrote: “On their recently single, ‘Roseland’, Cardinals offered the most fascinating of sonic prospects – brooding indie mixed with intense shoegaze and subtle shades of their Irish folk beginnings. The result is a thing of curious brilliance and one that has led them to secure fans in high places: Fontaines D.C.’s Grian Chatten recently described the Cork group as “one of my favourite bands”. High praise indeed.”
