Gorillaz have teased new music, the first to emerge from the group since 2020’s ‘Song Machine: Season One – Strange Timez’.

Posting a fresh clip on social media, the group teased new techno-tinged track ‘Cracker Island’ and hinted that the new offering is “coming soon”.

While the track is yet to receive an official release, they have showcased it during recent shows including their Primavera set in Barcelona last weekend. Those performances also confirm the inclusion of funk hero Thundercat on the track.

Other unreleased offerings at those shows include ‘Silent Running’, although it remains unclear when the Damon Albarn-led band plan to release that track.

They also accompanied the new preview with hashtag ‘The Last Cult’, hinting at a fuller project from the group.

Gorillaz are set to return to the UK in August, with a headline show at All Points East festival. That show takes place August 19 and the band will be joined by the likes of IDLES, Yves Tumor, Self Esteem, Femi Kuti, Obongjayar and Gabriels.

In April, Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn appeared with Flume at the second weekend of Coachella to debut a new track called ‘Palaces’.

For the first weekend, Albarn joined Billie Eilish on stage at Coachella weekend one to perform her song ‘Getting Older’ and a rendition of Gorillaz’s ‘Feel Good Inc’.
