Matt Maltese has unveiled a home-taped live performance which sees him performing ‘Cure For Emptiness’, his new duet with Bello, aka acclaimed actor Bella Ramsey. Watch it first on Rolling Stone UK.
The pair recently unveiled the duet, with Maltese explaining that he had been working with The Last Of Us star Ramsey under their new artist alias of Bello over the past year. He said he was “so honoured” to work with Bello and hailed their “angelic voice” on the project.
The track first appeared on Maltese’s sixth album Hers, but this new intimate recording amplifies the song’s message of “searching and never finding, and those small moments where you feel and see everything,” as the singer puts it.
Describing the new collab, he told Rolling Stone UK: “I’ve been making music with Bello for about a year now. It’s been a privilege getting to know them and I’m very honoured to have them sing on this song with me.”
The new release arrives almost halfway through Maltese’s headline tour of NorthAmerica, which includes a stop at LA’s iconic Greek Theatre, before the tour continues for seven nights through the UK in November, culminating at London’s Roundhouse forhis biggest hometown show to date.
“On new album Hers, he meditates more softly and thoughtfully on a long-term relationship, and how feelings change outside the glow of intense new love,” Rolling Stone UK said of Maltese’s latest record.
He said of the record at the time: “I’ve written a lot of music that comes from a place of infatuation, but this record was written on reflection of a much longer-term love. The complications and wonderful roads that that goes through and the more informed heartaches that come out of it.”
