Olivia Rodrigo has urged her fans to help raise funds for children affected by war in Gaza.

The singer made the plea on Instagram as she shared a fresh update with her 39.4million followers and called for people to show their support through the UN’s international emergency fund.

“There are no words to describe the heartbreak I feel witnessing the devastation that is being inflicted upon innocent people in Palestine,” wrote Rodrigo on Instagram.

“Mothers, fathers, and children in Gaza are starving, dehydrated, and being denied access to basic medical care and humanitarian aid.”

She went on: “There is no child in Israel, Palestine, or anywhere in the world who deserves to suffer through what we’re seeing these children have to endure. It is horrific and completely unacceptable. To give up on them is to give up on our shared humanity.”

The singer also shared a link to  UNICEF USA and encouraged fans to donate. “I donated to help the victims of this terrible situation, and I encourage you to do so if you have the means,” she wrote.

Last month saw Rodrigo headline Glastonbury, with Rolling Stone UK declaring her to be “the best headliner of the weekend”.

“Step forward Olivia Rodrigo, then, who marks her own occasion on the Pyramid by bringing out a bonafide Glastonbury legend in the form of The Cure’s Robert Smith to rip through a joyous ‘Friday I’m In Love’, before the king of the goths sticks around for ‘Just Like Heaven’ too,” we wrote.

“It’s a brilliant moment to watch and by getting a venerable legend like Smith in her corner she delivers the ultimate riposte to people who questioned whether the 22-year-old had what it takes for this biggest of gigs.”
