The Snuts have returned with a new single called ‘Summer Rain’, which sees the band tackle personal themes such as postnatal depression.

The track marks the return of the Scottish band and comes after frontman Jack Cochrane wished to write a song about postnatal depression to reflect the reality of what his wife experienced after the birth of their child.

“My wife was struggling really badly with postnatal depression,” he shared. “We had a kid when the band had just released our third album and were on tour. That’s way too much to be doing with a newborn.”

The lyrics, he explains, follow the reality of life after he returned home from tour. “I thought that I could just fix it – that’s a classic man thing – then I had to actually grow up,” he said. “Lyrically, the song expresses the impact of change and the fear of the future, but also a willingness or plea to restart and claim back functional happiness.”

As well as sharing a new video directed by filmmaker Charles Gall, the band say the song is the first taste of their upcoming fourth album, which arrives via their own label, Happy Artist – in partnership with Virgin Music Group.

They will also head out on a UK tour, with full details of that to be found here.
