Lee Jeans taps Feng Chen Wang to reinvent the Canadian tuxedo
The collaboration marks the 101st anniversary of Lee’s 101 series, reimagining its iconic denim archive
For over a century, Lee Jeans has been at the forefront of denim. So how does a legacy brand refresh its heritage? By teaming up with designers du jour. This time, it’s London-based Chinese creative maverick Feng Chen Wang.
To celebrate the 101st anniversary of Lee’s 101 series (the brand’s premium range inspired by heritage construction), Wang reimagines the denim on denim look. Blending her signature eye for deconstruction with Lee’s signature silhouettes, the designer found inspiration in the unlikeliest of places.

“We’ve reengineered these iconic silhouettes through a contemporary lens, using bamboo as our muse,” Wang explains. “Interpreting its natural shape and resilience through unconventional cuts and washing techniques that honour both tradition and transformation.”
The bamboo motif comes alive in a gradient leaf pattern across pieces like the Lee 101J Rider Jacket and 101 Jeans, as if the denim had been pressed against leaves. The womenswear selection takes this organic inspiration a step further with fraying details.

The effect is surprisingly simple but adds a flourish to Lee’s legacy that’s distinct to the Chinese designer. Merging workwear tradition with experimental design, the collection brings a fresh perspective to denim without compromising the familiarity of Lee.
Founded in 1889, Lee’s legacy has long been rooted in craftsmanship and innovation. By bridging past and present, the collection reflects both Lee’s storied history and Wang’s forward-thinking vision, proving that even a century-old denim legacy can continue to evolve in exciting, modern ways.
