Utility meets innovation with Stone Island Denim Research
Technical innovations reimagine humble denim for the Italian brand’s Autumn/Winter 2025 collection.

Denim has been a wardrobe essential for more than a century. While the saying goes “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” there are innovators who choose to challenge convention. The Stone Island Denim Research capsule collection does just that.
While the usual outerwear, overshirts and carpenter jeans form the collection, it’s the cutting-edge fabrics that set it a part from your usual denim wardrobe.

Standout materials include Indigo Polypropylene Denim, made from propylene yarn with that produces a vibrant, lightweight double-faced indigo. Woven with indigo-dyed cotton, it maintains the appearance of classic denim and is available in both rinsed and raw states.
Stone Island also experiments with Indigo-treated nylon, which mimics denim while remaining light thanks to its hollow-fibre structure. A proprietary corrosion treatment gives each piece a unique, worn-in character.

Meanwhile, Micro Corduroy reinvents a classic textile by combining indigo-dyed cotton and white polyester, producing a distinctive ridged texture and a unique aesthetic. Not unlike the brand’s iconic signature jackets.
To honour the brand’s heritage, garments feature a dedicated black badge with the signature blue compass logo and nickel shank badge buttons, specially developed for this project.

The campaign for the collection features actor Alessandro Borghi and designer Clint 419 as they showcase the pieces along with a Q&A. Highlighting the dynamism and global values of the brand, the campaign captures both its innovative spirit and commitment to contemporary style,
With Denim Research, Stone Island continues to explore the boundaries of indigo, combining technical mastery and experimental design to deliver garments that are as innovative as they are timeless. Discover the capsule here.
