WARNING: CELEBRITY TRAITORS SPOILERS ARE WITHIN. PLEASE TURN BACK IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT YET, HONESTLY.

One of the latest stars to be murdered in The Celebrity Traitors has spoken out about their experiences on the show, and why they think that murdered faithfuls should be able to rise from the grave.

We talk, of course, about Tom Daley, who proved that even an Olympic medal can’t protect you from the murderous urges of the Traitors: Jonathan Ross, Cat Burns, and, of course, Alan Carr.

During his time on the show, he was a team player, using his athleticism to empower the Faithful team in a physically demanding Trojan horse challenge, where poor Celia Imrie was positioned at the horse’s rear end.

Daley spoke exclusively to Rolling Stone UK from beyond the grave, where he discussed his experiences on the show and the all-important question: If you were to knit a jumper inspired by Claudia Winkleman, what colour yarn would you use?

Q: How are you? Are you okay?

I’m doing good. I have been murdered, you know. It is what it is. I wish Claudia had made me a Traitor. You know, it was really good fun though. It’s part of the game, isn’t it?

For me, I get such bad FOMO. I mean, in everyday life as well, and not knowing what happened in the castle after I left was tough.

Q: Did the game of deception live up to your expectations?

Yeah, it did. It exceeded them, in fact, because you don’t realise until you’re in it how much you’re disconnected from everything. It’s all you can think about every day – the game. Even when you’re not being filmed, you’re constantly thinking about it. You’re fully immersed in it, which is a really fun way to experience a game of deception.

And when people get murdered, like after Paloma [Faith] got murdered, you genuinely don’t see them again. They’re gone. It really does feel like someone has been killed and disappeared forever. You can’t even reach out afterwards and check in. You just go back to the castle, and the game continues. It feels ruthless, but it was great fun.

Who shocked you the most when you discovered they were a Traitor?

Cat, honestly. I would never have been suspicious of Cat. Jonathan and Alan, I feel like I would have eventually clocked, especially Alan, I was starting to twig towards the end. But he’s such fun to be around, you don’t want him to go anywhere. They were all playing a great game in the castle. It really is a good mix. I think Claudia picked some great Traitors.

What would your advice be to Alan going forward in the competition?

Keep doing what he’s doing. Watching it back, he was being so obvious about so many things, but at a certain point you just think, “Oh, it’s Alan.” He knows what he’s doing, and people need to watch out for that.

Who do you think is the biggest game player?

Alan is playing a great game. He’s commanding, and he knows how to make people laugh while earning their trust. Cat’s playing an amazing game too, slipping under the radar, listening, and feeding information back. Jonathan’s playing a bit of a risky game, but we’ll see how it turns out.

What role did you play in the castle?

Oh gosh, I wasn’t there long, but I really enjoyed the missions. I think I helped start conversations and open things up. I was probably way more vocal than I should’ve been, everyone says to stay under the radar, but I just couldn’t. When I started thinking about Steph, I had to say it!

Who on set was most likely to stir up chaos?

I remember Niko [Omilana] stirring the pot a little bit when I was sitting with Charlotte [Church]. And John – when Paloma got murdered, he told Alan, “You should say something, you knew her best.” That was pretty bold.

Maybe next season they should let murdered players come back! Like a resurrection clause for the first few people. I’d love that.

Did Claudia ever break character?

Not really. She stayed professional, but at one point she did tell us off a bit during a mission briefing because we kept interrupting with questions. She just went, “Shh! Let me tell you, and you’ll find out after.” It wasn’t really breaking character, but it was funny.

If you were to knit a jumper inspired by Claudia Winkleman, what colour yarn would you use?

Black. I feel like she’s a black and silver girl – black with a pop of silver or sparkle. Very goth glam. You could go toned down in colour but bold in shape for a Claudia jumper.

And no orange or tan?

No! I think she’s got enough of that going on already.

You had the classic sexy shower scene – how was that to film?

It was surreal! You’re just there, giving a bit of a rub, and thinking, “I’m here for it.” People have seen me in the shower before, so it wasn’t too weird for me.

Since filming, have there been any behind-the-scenes moments that really made you laugh?

Honestly, everyone has been so lovely and supportive since filming. It’s such a great group, and I’ve made some amazing new friends I might not have met otherwise.

Was there a celebrity you immediately thought would make a great Traitor?

Stephen Fry, obviously. He’s one of the smartest people alive. And Alan too – you’d never suspect him, but he’d be great at it.

Out of the celebrity cast, who would have the most extravagant funeral?

Paloma. And she did! She got the funeral she always deserved.
