The first trailer has been unveiled for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, the anticipated movie of the celebrated gangster series.

Barry Keoghan is revealed to be the renegade son of Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy), who is forced to return to Birmingham in order to put a definitive end to his son’s chaos.

The trailer also reflects the events of World War Two, with Tim Roth revealed to be playing a British Nazi supporter who is plotting an event which could tip the balance in Germany’s favour.

“Birmingham, 1940. Amidst the chaos of WWII, Tommy Shelby is driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet,” a synopsis reveals.

“With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons, and choose whether to confront his legacy, or burn it to the ground. By order of the Peaky Blinders…”

The cast also includes Rebecca Ferguson, Sophie Rundle and Stephen Graham.

The film arrives in cinemas on March 6 and marks the start of a new chapter for the show, with the BBC confirming last year that Peaky Blinders will return for two more series.

An official synopsis teases: “Britain, 1953. After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel. In a new era of Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders, the race to own Birmingham’s massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger: with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart.”

A release date for the series is yet to be announced.
