Set in a futuristic world where animated characters meet humanoid robots, the cinematic-style music video for Hidden Fortress’ single “Copilot” offers a glimpse into a creative project developed over several years.

A Sci-Fi Vision Brought to Life

“The music video for Copilot was never supposed to happen. It was a dream too large that I never thought would be possible to make,” shares Jeremiah Hammerling, founder of the musical project, who also explains that it came to life thanks to remarkable collaborations with a team of animation and film professionals with decades of experience.

The animation was led by Christian Subia, owner of DYCE Animation Studios in Ecuador, and his team. At the same time, Robert DeVine at Anatamorphex, who is credited with work on major sci-fi and action films, worked closely with Hammerling on the robot costume designs featured in the video.

A Personal Journey Through Sound and Storytelling

Beyond the audiovisual achievement, Hammerling believes the true value lies in the message of the project, in which the song serves as a calling card. He made the album after a difficult period marked by personal challenges and global uncertainty. “I set out to try to move through my anxiety and grief with sound and music. The songs that came out of that period are deeply personal, and 11 of them are on the Hidden Fortress’s album,” he said.

That self-titled album, which blends psych-pop, R&B, hip-hop, synth-pop, and a non-dystopian cyberpunk aesthetic, serves as a personal and artistic exploration of themes of identity, perception, and finding meaning during turbulent times. Conceived as a multidisciplinary project, Hidden Fortress blends animatronics, practical effects, 90s-style anime, and 80s sci-fi to create a detailed narrative setting that not only accompanies the music but also amplifies it.

“Copilot” distills that spirit. It speaks of vulnerability, of making it through the storm together, and of the human need for an ally when everything is falling apart. Its visual concept, with nods to Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and Blade Runner, turns that message into an experience where the imperfect beauty of handmade craft takes center stage.

A Collaborative Statement of Hope

After more than three years of work, Hammerling describes the project as a testament to human effort, global collaboration, and creativity that persists in uncertain times. “This music video isn’t even a music video or a short film,” he shared in a written statement. “It stands as a shining glimmer of optimism in uncertain times when it’s easy to lose ourselves. We just need a copilot.”
