Lidl unveils World Cup shirt to keep England fans dry from flying pints

The late great Jimmy Greaves once famously said that football is a funny game. The man himself was referring to the complexities of the Beautiful Game, but it’s an adage that is equally true of the fans at home too. In the last decade or so, we’ve witnessed the unique phenomenon of pints being hauled in the air by, we’ll say it, idiots, every time that England score during a major tournament.
Stop forward then, Lidl, with an innovation that could seriously change things. The supermarket giant has unveiled The Three Lidls Jersey, a groundbreaking new strip specifically engineered to keep England fans (and their possessions) dry and stink-free every time it’s about to rain lager.
Designed for matchdays but equally natty as an everyday garment, The Three Lidls Jersey has been created with 100% liquid and odour resistant POUR-TEX technology and even boasts a waterproof pocket to store your possessions, as well as additional ventilation to remain cool during those hopefully sunny summer evenings.
Just 104 of the shirts are on offer, priced at a perfect £19.66 (geddit) and available in long and short sleeve options. They’ve also received the backing of recognisable England super fan Andy Milne.
