Some artists live to create trends, some create distinct artistic spaces. Such is the story of American artist Nadiem Musleh, who is carving out a niche for himself with his distinct blend of contemporary music. Popularly known as Nadiem in the music world, the Cleveland-based artist grew up with a European-Catholic mother and a Palestinian Muslim father. He credits his musical understanding to his multicultural heritage, which has inspired him to connect with music aficionados worldwide.
“Growing up in a mixed household was my first learning tool towards understanding music,” Nadiem said in a recent interview. “As a child, I was exposed to the cultures my parents grew up in, and I realized that it is impossible to shun music in a box. Music has no language, it is an expression that transcends beyond words and territorial boundaries!”
Discovering Music During His School Years
Nadiem’s artistic journey began very early in life. He started exploring and experimenting with music during his school years by playing various instruments. By the time he got into The Ohio State University, he was leaning more towards his artistic side despite majoring in psychology.
“I was still trying to find my footing in life when I graduated. I thought I wanted to be a doctor, but that changed quickly when I started realizing that I loved making music,” says Nadiem, “During the COVID TikTok boom, I put out a song called Wristwatch featuring YK Osiris and was happy when it was well received.”
The Viral Moment That Expanded His Audience
Well received was just the beginning for Nadiem. For Nadiem, the song was a catalyst that catapulted him deeper into the world of music.
If Nadiem was sure about pursuing music as a career, he was also sure about one other thing. He wanted to engage with his listeners on an interpersonal level instead of simply creating something that came to his mind. His songs are a testimony to the various emotions that connect with human life.
“Growing up as someone who often felt they didn’t belong gave me a deeper understanding of the human psyche,” quips Nadiem. “I was always being subjected to stereotypes, and it was difficult to come to terms with it as a teenager. However, it also gave me a rich emotional palette to turn that experience into music.”

Blending Genres and Creative Influences
When it comes to music, Nadiem refuses to be cast into a single genre. While hip-hop and rap are his foundations, he also draws from elements of rock, pop, reggae, and country, creating a distinctive listening experience for his fans. For him, stats are just numbers and only tell one part of the story. Its connection that gets the bandwagon going.
“I love music in its entirety from its conception to production, and I like to be deeply involved in each step of music-making. I’m not afraid to experiment because music, for me, is a medium for self-expression, and I love it when my songs make a difference in someone’s life. Even if I’m using vulgar intonations, I’m aware that energy can serve a purpose in many rooms.”
Expanding Into Fashion With ‘Exception’
In addition to his musical pursuits, Nadiem has also founded ‘Exception’, a clothing brand that embodies his personal belief of breaking stereotypes. The brand features streetwear with its distinguished bold motifs and symbolic bar codes, an unusual style that transcends creative restrictions.
Nadiem attributes a significant moment in his career to his latest single, which was put together in less than thirty minutes.
“It is important to find someone who helps elevate your sound. I’ve gotten really good at letting the energy of the room dictate a song’s creation; it’s honestly saved me so much time to be effective in other areas of my music career.”
Building Connection Through Live Performances
Each live performance reflects Nadiem’s passion for connection and making fans feel welcomed. He continues to push musical boundaries with his artistic experiments. His songs pulse with a deep understanding of human psychology, building bridges for listeners who often feel caught between the worlds.
