Blossoms announce new album ‘Songs from the Wedding Cake’ and UK arena tour

The Stockport stalwarts will take in Manchester's Co-Op Live and London's Ally Pally as part of the tour

Blossoms have announced details of their new album Song from the Wedding Cake, as well as confirming their biggest ever UK tour for later this year.

Fresh from releasing new song ‘Meet Me In Love’ last week and ‘Joke About Divorce’ earlier this year, the Stockport five-piece have now confirmed that their sixth album will drop on October 2.

Recorded to tape alongside producer Shawn Lee at Tilehouse Studios, the record takes its name from a Stockport nickname for the town’s iconic Victorian town hall – where Tom got married.

“I was hooked by the way [Young Gun Silver Fox] sounded; they had this 70s style Steely Dan thing going on,” said frontman Tom Ogden of working with Lee. “But it turned out he was email friends with Josh [Dewhurst] because he grew up playing the video game Bully and Shawn did the soundtrack to it. Josh has always said that was one of his main influences for getting into music, so he dropped him a message and it went from there.”

In addition to the new album Blossoms have also confirmed plans for a huge UK arena tour. They will be joined across all tour dates by The Royston Club and fans can access a special pre-sale by pre-ordering the album from blossomsband.co.uk. Tickets go on fan pre-sale at 9:30am on Tuesday June 24th, while general sale takes place at 9:30am on Thursday June 26th.
