Burial has announced a new EP set to be released next month – get all the details on ‘ANTIDAWN’ and see its artwork below.

The enigmatic London-based producer will release his new record digitally on January 6 via Hyperdub, with CD and LP versions following on January 28.

Though released in an LP format, ‘ANTIDAWN’ is billed as an EP and has five tracks. Burial‘s last full-length album came in 2007 with the legendary ‘Untrue’.

Describing the new record, a press release says: “Antidawn reduces Burial’s music to just the vapours. The record explores an interzone between dislocated, patchwork songwriting and eerie, open-world, game space ambience.

“In the resulting no man’s land, lyrics take precedence over song, lonely phrases colour the haze, a stark and fragmented structure makes time slow down.

“Antidawn seems to tell a story of a wintertime city, and something beckoning you to follow it into the night. The result is both comforting and disturbing, producing a quiet and uncanny glow against the cold. Sometimes, as it enters ‘a bad place’, it takes your breath away. And time just stops.”

Since the release of ‘Untrue’ over a decade ago, Burial has released a host of collaborations, EPs, mixtapes and compilations.

In 2020, he teamed up with Four Tet and Radiohead‘s Thom Yorke for AA-side ‘Her Revolution’ / ‘His Rope’, while 2021 saw him release the singles ‘Chemz’ and ‘Dolphinz’ as well as the EP ‘Shock Power of Love’ alongside Blackdown.

In 2019, a compilation of most of his work from the 2010s was brought together on the compilation ‘Tunes 2011-2019’.
