Halsey has teased new music and hinted at the musical direction of their next album in a series of social media posts.

The singer released her latest album, ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power’, in 2021. The record, which saw her collaborate with Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, was a rock-inspired departure from her past work.

With a tour for ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power’ coming up in 2022 – including headline sets at Reading & Leeds – Halsey has now teased new music, and revealed that her next material will take them back in a more pop-led direction.

“Due to personal reasons I will be making a pop album,” Halsey wrote on their Instagram Stories, adding in a separate post: “I have an incredible song that I could put out as a single for radio next but I feel like that’s insane to do bc I haven’t even toured iichliwp yet idk.”

She then added: “I actually have a few. Idk what to dooooo.”

Back in January, Halsey shared a snippet from the original version of their 2019 song ‘Nightmare’, which features a sample of t.A.T.u.’s  ‘All The Things She Said’.

In a TikTok, the singer captioned a clip of the demo which features the chorus from  ‘All The Things She Said’, with the text ‘did you know nightmare OG had a tatu sample?”. The caption reads: “should I leak this version?”

At the end of 2021, Halsey shared the full ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power’ film online, which accompanied their album of the same name.

After a run of IMAX screenings, it was made available to rent on HBO Max in October and can now be found on Amazon, iTunes and more online streaming services.

A synopsis for the film reads: “Set to the music of Halsey’s fourth studio album, this one-of-a-kind film experience stars the two-time GRAMMY nominee as the young and pregnant Queen Lila. After a shocking event, Lila unlocks a paranormal power within and discovers her ability to create life (and end it).”
