Kelly Clarkson performed Depeche Mode’s 1990 classic ‘Enjoy The Silence’ on Monday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show.

The talk show host sang the track as part of the ‘Kellyoke’ segment and was backed by a live band to deliver a faithful take on the original song.

Clarkson – who rose to fame on American Idol in 2002 – was just eight when Enjoy The Silence was released.

The British band’s track reached number six on the UK singles chart at the time and number eight in the US.

It was the second single from the band’s seventh studio album, Violator.

Clarkson scored a number one hit in the UK and the US with 2009’s My Life Would Suck Without You.

She also topped the Billboard Hot 100 with 2012’s Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You).

Depeche Mode is meanwhile known for UK top 10 hits like People Are People and Everything Counts.

The band is currently comprised of Andy Fletcher, Martin Gore, and Dave Gahan, and formally Vince Clarke and Alan Wilder.

Clarkson’s rendition of ‘Enjoy The Silence’ is the latest in a series of covers the singer has performed on her show. This year, she’s also performed Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Drivers License’, Charli XCX’s ‘Boom Clap’, Tears For Fears’ ‘Mad World’ and Foo Fighters’ ‘Times Like These’, among others.

Meanwhile, Kelly recently addressed comparisons to talk show veteran Ellen DeGeneres during an interview.

She told the New York Times: “No one can take over for Ellen. It’s an iconic show.”

The 39-year-old added: “I’m never going to be Whitney Houston — I’m never going to be Cyndi Lauper, Reba [McEntire] or Trisha [Yearwood] or Mariah [Carey].

“I’m going to be me. I think that’s fine. There’s room for everyone at the table.”

The Kelly Clarkson Show, which launched in 2019, recently returned for a second season.
