Black Midi’s Cameron Picton unveils new band and shares debut single
My New Band Believe's debut will arrive in April via Rough Trade.
Former Black Midi bassist and occasional vocalist Cameron Picton has announced the debut album of his new project, My New Band Believe, as well as sharing their new single ‘Numerology’.
Initially hailing from London’s Windmill scene alongside bands like Black Country, New Road, Black Midi’s three albums – 2019’s Schlagenheim, 2021’s Cavalcade and 2022’s Hellfire – earmarked the group as one of the most forward-thinking and critically acclaimed bands in the UK. Rolling Stone UK said of their three-album run that they “remain endlessly intriguing at all times”.
The project will be Picton’s first since frontman Geordie Greep confirmed Black Midi’s split in 2024. My New Band Believe first released music in the form of the single Lecture 25, released in February 2025.
Along with the likes of Kiran Leonard, Caius Williams, Steve Noble and members of caroline, My New Band Believe’s Numerology, though more acoustic than much of Black Midi’s output, remains frenetic in its guitar-playing and lyrically abstract in it’s almost spoken-word vocals.
The single, though released alongside the unveiling of their new album, will not feature in the standard track listing. Instead, it will feature on a bonus 10” version of the album and a limited-edition deluxe CD. Check out the track-listing in full below.
1. ‘Target Practice’

3. ‘Heart of Darkness’

The band will also embark on a UK tour throughout April and May, beginning in Glasgow and concluding in Oxford.
