Blossoms have returned with ‘Joke About Divorce’, marking the first step in a new era for the group.
The new song, produced by Shawn Lee, marks first new material since they released ‘The Honeymoon’ on last year’s expanded edition of 2024 album Gary.
Of the song, which sees Blossoms on typically funk-fuelled form, frontman Tom Ogden said: “During every argument, no matter how big or small, there’s always that moment where humour could completely disarm you both and diffuse the whole thing. On this occasion, I thought joking about divorce would do exactly that… I just got the timing completely wrong. Instead, it made things worse, and that moment ended up immortalised in a three-and-a-half-minute pop song.”
The music video also features actor Callum Scott Howells as an unexpected compère, alongside a troupe of identically styled dancers.
It comes after the band kicked off early 2026 with a European headline tour, performing in cities including Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam. This summer will see the band return to the festival circuit, headlining Neighbourhood Weekender and appearing at Tramlines.
