Bree Runway has confirmed her intention to release fresh material this month.

Any new music would be the first from the Londoner since March, when she put out the single ‘Somebody Like You’. That track followed on from ‘Pressure’, which arrived in February, and her collaboration with Glass Animals, ‘Space Ghost Coast to Coast’, which first landed in May of 2021.

At the time of its release, Runway described ‘Somebody Like You’ as “an ode to my future lover.” Her website posits ‘Pressure’ and ‘Somebody Like You’ as being two parts of a trilogy, with the third tantalisingly captioned ‘coming soon’.

On Saturday (September 3), in response to a fan query on Twitter on when her burgeoning following could expect new music, the singer-songwriter and rapper responded, “SEPTEMBER 2022!” She then replied to another fan asking whether there would be an accompanying video for the track, asking them, “Does Bree Runway ever drop a song without a video?”

A third follower asked whether the new music would be one of the unreleased tracks that she played at Bowery Ballroom in New York City back in May. Runway appeared to deny that, saying that instead the new arrival would be ‘something CRAYzzzzzzzzzier.”

The Hackney native already has 16 singles, 25 music videos, three EPs and a mixtape to her name, but has yet to release a debut album proper. In an interview with NME earlier this year, she confirmed her intention to eventually release a full-length, telling them that it is “going to really show off what Bree Runway can do. All I want is for people to walk away from it thinking, this girl can really do anything.”

Runway, who is historically by no means averse to a collaboration, also spoke about her dream team-ups in the chat, including the possibility of her one day working with Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker, who’s music she described as “magical”.

“I think Kevin is unbelievably talented,” she said. “The fact he’s able to write lyrics that have touched so many of us so deeply – and also make all of the music – is magical. Honestly, it’s like he’s not a real human being!”
