Chaka Khan has announced an eclectic array of artists to play Meltdown Festival 2024, which the singer will curate.

This year’s festival will run from June 14-23 at the Southbank Centre and follows a 2023 programme curated by Christine & the Queens.

A vast array of artists across R&B, soul, jazz and more are on offer this year, with Khan playing two shows herself to open and close the festival. The latter, in particular, will see teaming with the Nu Civilisation Orchestra for the first-ever live performance of 2004’s ClassiKhan, which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios.

Of the main acts, fans can expect performances from Broadway star Todrick Hall (June 16) and rising star Lady Blackbird on June 2020.

Similarly Brixton’s Speakers Corner Quartet will play on 17 June in collaboration with the Guildhall Orchestra, while Acid jazz stalwarts Incognito will mark 45 years of their debut album Jazz Funk on June 19.

While the whole line-up can be viewed above, Khan is also inviting London-based Black and Black mixed heritage female and non-binary young people aged 18-25 years to become a key part of the festival’s choir, which is being spearheaded by artist and musician Tawiah. Performances will take place across the festival and you can apply here.
