Beyoncé has started her own account on TikTok. A verified profile in the singer’s name appeared last night (December 16).

The account has not uploaded any content to the social media service, and is not following any other accounts. Nevertheless, it has already amassed 85,000 followers at the time of writing.

Whether Beyoncé is planning any TikTok content is not yet known, however many fans are speculating that it could tie in with new music.

Others, meanwhile, are anticipating that the account will simply be used to promote Beyoncé’s Ivy Park fashion range.

Beyoncé is known to be working on new music. “With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again,” she told Harper’s Bazaar earlier this year. “I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible. I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half.”

She added: “Still, there’s nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing that I feel in the recording studio. After 31 years, it feels just as exciting as it did when I was nine years old. Yes, the music is coming!”

Although Beyoncé has not released a solo studio album since 2016’s acclaimed ‘Lemonade’, she’s put out plenty of material in the intervening years. In 2018 she and husband Jay-Z released a joint album as The Carters, and in 2020 she released both the musical film and visual album ‘Black Is King’, a companion to her soundtrack for Disney’s remake of ‘The Lion King’.

Last month, meanwhile, she shared ‘Be Alive’, a song from the Venus and Serena Williams biopic ‘King Richard’, which she wrote after seeing a preview screening of the film and feeling inspired to contribute to the project.

She also recently covered ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ classic ‘Moon River’ for her ‘About Love’ Tiffany & Co. campaign with Jay-Z.
