Father John Misty has detailed his fifth album ‘Chloë And The Next 20th Century’ and announced a special orchestral show in London. Listen to the new single ‘Funny Girl’ below.

The US singer-songwriter – real name Joshua Tillman – will release the follow-up to 2018’s ‘God’s Favorite Customer’ on April 8 via Sub Pop and Bella Union. You can pre-order it here in multiple formats.

Having shared various teasers online, Father John Misty has today (January 5) previewed the upcoming record with a yearning, cinematic ballad called ‘Funny Girl’.

Funny girl/ You look so unassuming/ Right up until/ The room you’re captivating/ Starts to fill with gut-busting laughter/ And you’re transformed into a five-foot Cleopatra,” Tillman sings over delicate piano chords, lavish strings and horns.

You can watch the Nicholas Ashe Bateman-directed official video below.

‘Chloë And The Next 20th Century’ was produced by Misty’s longtime collaborator Jonathan Wilson, who has worked on all of the artist’s records to date, beginning with 2012’s ‘Fear Fun’.  It was mixed by Dave Cerminara, with arrangements courtesy of Drew Erickson.

The 11-track album also features the songs ‘Chloë’, ‘Kiss Me (I Loved You)’, ‘Only A Fool’, ‘We Could Be Strangers’ and ‘The Next 20th Century’. You can see the full tracklist and cover artwork below.
