James Blake has released the music video for his new single, ‘Funeral’, featuring slowthai.

The London crooner and producer released the audio-only version of the emotional ballad off his latest album, ‘Friends That Break Your Heart’ last Friday, with Slowthai subsequently featuring on the visual component which premiered on Monday, October 11.

The two versions of the heartfelt song are largely similar, with slowthai’s contribution coming in for the second verse: “I been the dust on top of trophies, the rust that makes it homely / The crust that no one wants, I was forgotten, I’ve gone moldy / They pressed mute, can you please pass the controller? / Been the rabbit in the lights and they already ran me over.

The pair debuted the new track with a joint performance on last night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Near the end of the somber song, they shared smiles while playing piano together, lightening the mood.

‘Funeral’ is the latest single from James Blake’s fifth studio album, Friends That Break Your Heart, which was released on Friday, October 8, after the vinyl pressing experienced production delays.

James Blake and slowthai have previously collaborated on the rapper’s September 2020 single ‘Feel Away,’ which also featured UK post-dubstep stalwarts Mount Kimbie.

Next year sees Blake head out on a a UK and European tour in support of ‘Friends That Break Your Heart’.

Blake’s dates kick off on April 30, 2022 at the O2 Academy in Glasgow before concluding at Alexandra Palace on May 17, 2022.
