Kelly Osbourne has thanked fans for the “love, support and beautiful messages” she has received since the death of her father, Ozzy Osbourne, last month.
The legendary Black Sabbath singer died “surrounded by love” aged 76 last month, two weeks after he made his final live performance, dubbed Back to the Beginning, at Birmingham’s Villa Park.
Now, his daughter Kelly – who took a starring role alongside Ozzy in The Osbournes – has shared a new message on her Instagram Stories to thank fans.
“I’ve sat down to write this a hundred times and still don’t know if the words will ever feel like enough,” she said. “But from the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
“The love, support, and beautiful messages I’ve received from so many of you have truly helped carry me through the hardest moment of my life. Every kind word, every shared memory, every bit of compassion has meant more than I can ever explain.”
“Grief is a strange thing,” she continued. “It sneaks up on you in waves. I will not be ok for a while, but knowing my family are not alone in our pain makes a difference. I’m holding on tight to the love, the light, and the legacy left behind.”
“Thank you for being there. I love you all so much, Kelly,” she concluded.
It’s the latest message from Kelly after she previously shared an Instagram message in the wake of Ozzy’s death which referenced his song ‘Changes’ – having previously duetted with him on it. “I feel unhappy, I am so sad. I lost the best friend I ever had,” she wrote.
Last week saw thousands of fans line the streets of Birmingham for Ozzy’s funeral through his hometown. Osbourne’s coffin travelled down Broad Street in the city centre, before ending at the Black Sabbath Bridge and bench.
The local brass band Bostin Brass provided music for the procession, while fans lined the streets and showed their love for the late singer with banners, flowers and Ozzy fancy dress.
In 2023, Osbourne appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone UK and won The Icon Award at the Rolling Stone UK Awards. In the cover feature, he said: “I do count my lucky stars. I don’t know why I’m still here and I do sometimes think I’m on borrowed time. I said to Sharon the other day, ‘What a great fucking life we’ve had and what a great fucking experience.’”
