Mitski has shared a third preview of new album ‘Laurel Hell’ – watch the animated video for new song ‘Heat Lightning’ below.

The singer’s new album is set to come out on February 4 next year via Dead Oceans after Mitski made her comeback earlier this year with the single ‘Working For The Knife’ and shared details of worldwide tour dates.

Since then, another track called ‘The Only Heartbreaker’ was released – alongside full details of ‘Laurel Hell’ – and is now followed by ‘Heat Lightning’, a song about insomnia, which Mitski refers to as the “sleeping eyelid of the sky”.

For the new album, she says, she “needed songs that could help me forgive both others and myself…I needed to create this space mostly for myself where I sat in that gray area.”

After the release of ‘Laurel Hell’ next February, Mitski will head out on a sold-out UK and European tour, featuring London shows at the Roundhouse and Brixton Academy.

See the singer’s forthcoming UK dates below:

APRIL 2022
21 Marble Factory, Bristol
22 University Stylus, Leeds
23 Queen Margaret Union, Glasgow
25 Vicar Street, Dublin
26 O2 Ritz, Manchester
28 The Roundhouse, London
29 Brixton Academy, London

The singer’s return comes after she revealed details of her “last show indefinitely” back in 2019, which left fans fearing the worst that she might be quitting music. She told fans it was time for her to “be a human again. And have a place to live.”

The release of ‘Laurel Hell’ marks her first release since 2018’s ‘Be The Cowboy’.
