A new music festival is set to take place within the grounds of a Scottish palace in August.

Otherlands Music & Arts Festival will hold its inaugural edition at Scone Palace in Perth from August 19 to 21. The heritage site has previously played host to other festivals, including Rewind Scotland and Solas Festival.

Described as a “boutique camping festival”, the three-day event will feature live music, “forward-thinking art”, and industry discussions. The music programme is yet to be announced, but will feature both live and electronic acts across six stages.

In a social media tease, the festival’s organisers said: “Let us take you on a journey down a mystical path of Scotland’s heritage, where the nation’s Kings and Queens were once crowned. Feel the rhythm as we escape into nature for 3 days of music, art and culture in the Perthshire countryside. Welcome to The Otherlands.”

According to a report in Crack, Otherlands is a “celebration of culture” that represents the latest venture from the founders of Edinburgh-based events company FLY, who run Edinburgh’s FLY Open Air Festival.

That event also takes place in grand Scottish surrounds, at the capital’s Princess Gardens, and recently announced its lineup for 2022 – the first instalment of the festival since 2019. This year will see a headline set from Peggy Gou, as well as appearances by DJ Koze, Peach, Special Request, Louise Chen, Elkka, DJ Tennis and Heléna Starr.

Other names on the initial FLY lineup include Little Gay Brother and London duo Overmono. The festival’s resident artists, Jasper James and Eclair Fifi, will also be on the bill. FLY Open Air takes place on May 21 and 22.

Further information on Otherlands can be found via a newly-established mailing list for future updates, which can be signed up to here. More information on FLY Open Air is available at the festival’s website here.
