SIPHO. has released ‘BEADY EYES’, his first new song since his EP ‘AND GOD SAID…’ dropped earlier this year.

The Birmingham newcomer premiered the track on Zane Lowe’s show on Apple Music 1 today (November 11).

According to SIPHO. (pronounced See-po), ‘BEADY EYES’ is about “the beginning of knowing yourself while still sabotaging yourself and sabotaging others. Loving selfishly and selflessly all at once, with only the slightest regard for what the future might have for you”.

The 21-year-old is signed to Dirty Hit, the home of artists including The 1975, Beabadoobee and Rina Sawayama.

‘BEADY EYES’ follows the June release of the eight-track EP ‘AND GOD SAID…’, which SIPHO. says deals with religion, spiritual scepticism, morality and the different facets of young Black men.

He told The Guardian: “As much as Black boys can be forward, aggressive and ostentatious, we can also sit down, reflect, think about things and be vulnerable and honest like everyone else. I can be more than one thing.”

The tracks ‘BODIES’ and ‘ALMOST LOST’ discuss SIPHO.’s experience of immersing himself in evangelism after discovering the YouTube channel, It’s Supernatural! Network, and then beginning to question his own faith.

The R&B star said: “Being in this church, you see how headstrong people could be about their beliefs. However, a part of a lot of religions is this idea that you should not be prideful or stubborn about things. I came to the conclusion that there might not be one single explanation to it. We all just know that we feel a presence, whatever it is, and we call it God.”

‘AND GOD SAID…’ came three years after SIPHO.’s first EP, 2017’s ‘I DON’T DESERVE HER’.

Meanwhile, SIPHO. is set to play his first headline show later this month at Birmingham’s The Victoria on November 20.

He is also confirmed to play The Great Escape next summer.
