Soft Play could be about to land their highest-charting album
The Kent punks are on for chart success...

Soft Play‘s latest album Heavy Jelly could land them their highest ever album chart ranking, it’s been announced.
The duo – FKA Slaves – are riding high in the UK top three, where they’re joined by the likes of Olivia Rodrigo and Eminem.
If they manage to stay in that spot tomorrow, it means the duo will have secured their best charting record to date. In contrast, their debut Are You Satisfied? and Acts Of Fear And Love hit number eight, while Take Control hit number six.
“We worked really, really hard on this music, so to see it pay off and the fans are enjoying the music as much as we do…” says Laurie Vincent. “This is the music we want to make, and HEAVY JELLY’s release has definitely given us a new lease of life and a new sense of confidence.”
Last year, the duo discussed their return with Rolling Stone UK and explained how the start of a new era meant dropping their contentious former name.
“We wanted to show that we’re willing to take on board how people are feeling, how we can change and set that example,” said Vincent.
“It was hard because you have so much identity wrapped up in these things and we looked at our albums and wondered if we would be the same band if we changed our name. But I just had this really clear moment when I realised I didn’t want to arguing with people about a name anymore. I want to be in a band that makes music and that’s more important to me.”
