SON Estrella Galicia brought an exciting slice of Spanish nightlife to London last night, celebrating their continued their continued partnership with cult Hackney venue Paper Dress Vintage, the second UK link-up for the iconic family owned brewery, and their dedicated music brand.

Since 2009, the Spanish beer brand has created events that offer a twist on the traditional concert experience in Spain, Brazil, Portugal and the US, and are now in the UK with their partnership with Paper Dress Vintage.

A night of exhilarating live music, beer culture and positive impact reached its peak with a frenetic set from hotly-tipped UK 6-piece DEADLETTER. Frontman Zac Lawrence proved a powerful presence, as the show coincided with the recent release of the band’s debut EP Heat on SO Records.

Before that, Spanish indie-pop quartet Melenas took to the stage, captivating the audience with their vivid dream-pop sounds, whilst the event also featured DJ sets from Jordan Cook & Oli Paget-Moon (Telegram) and Sophie Landers (Black Doldrums/ Fuzz Records).

Throughout the night, dedicated experts educated punters about Estrella Galicia’s 1906 range range – with three rare beers available for tasting.

Specialist chefs were also on hand from celebrated London restaurant Tapas Brindisa, providing food pairings with Estrella Galicia Cerveza Lager and 1906 Reserva Especial. The bespoke menu was based around positive impact i.e. ‘waste croquetas’ made from ingredients that would otherwise have been thrown out.

In line with Estrella Galicia’s efforts towards sustainability, the event featured several interactive elements embodying the Reduce, Re-use and Recycle mantra. Attendees were encouraged to bring along old records, CDs and cassettes and trade them in for limited edition, 100% recycled merchandise. DJs then delivered a session cherry-picking from these old records before they were recycled after the event.

Paper Dress Vintage’s store front was also transformed into a recycling atelier, with two experts on hand to explain the process to the audience.

This night was the second in a series of collaborations between SON Estrella Galicia and Paper Dress Vintage – an ongoing cultural exchange intent on bringing Spanish beer culture and musical talent from the UK and Spain together.

Ahead of the event, Victor Mantiñán, Head of Global Music Sponsorship at Estrella Galicia said: “We’re delighted to continue our partnership with Paper Dress Vintage. Passion for beer, positive impact and support for new talent are fundamental axes of the SON Estrella Galicia brand and with Paper Dress’ position at the forefront of promoting emerging artists in London along with their commitment to recycled clothing, passion for beer and positive impact, we’ve found the perfect partner.

“Since 2009, we’ve supported emerging talent with our SON Estrella Galicia experiences – frequently betting on new artists who end up as headliners and we see very bright futures ahead of DEADLETTER and Melenas and can’t wait to see them in a small venue.”

Stephen Dix, co-owner of Paper Dress Vintage said: “We’re buzzing to be hosting one of the most exciting new bands on the scene at the moment in DEADLETTER, and love that we’re pairing them with an awesome band from Spain – it’s increasingly difficult for artists to tour internationally these days and we’re happy to be a part of giving them a platform to perform, don’t miss this one!”
