Prima Queen and Shanghai Baby will co-headline the latest London micro-festival from SON Estrella Galicia with Paper Dress Vintage.

Transatlantic duo Prima Queen, who met in the UK capital and are based there, will perform a headline set at Paper Dress Vintage in Hackney, following on from their well-received debut EP, May’s Not the Baby. They’ll be joined by Shanghai Baby, the solo project of former Hinds bassist Adé Martin, who’ll play a headline set of her own on September 14. The pairing continues the policy at SON Estrella Galicia’s events of having one UK and one Spanish artist on the bill.

Additionally, DJ sets are in prospect from two of the UK’s premier psych-influenced outfits, Los Bitchos and Mandrake Handshake, as well as from BBE Music’s Jeff Higgins. The show will be the latest in a series of collaborations between SON Estrella Galicia and Paper Dress, after two previous events in the past twelve months helped to establish SON Estrella Galicia as a live force in London; they’ve been promoting similar events around the world since 2009, in Spain, Brazil, Portugal and the United States.

In London, los Bitchos and Teleman have delivered DJ sets in London, while the likes of Belako & Dream Wife, Jessica Winter & Miss Tiny & Playback Maracas and Deadletter and Melenas have shown off their unrelenting powerful live shows. Local illustrator Tim Rockins, aka Rockins HQ, will be on hand on the night to sell exclusive customised jackets, with patches of his own design. The micro-festivals are intended to emphasise SON Estrella Galicia and Paper Dress Vintage’s joint commitment to sustainability.

The former, a family-owned independent beer brand, has a long-standing track record of working with local artists, vendors and sustainability projects. The latter, meanwhile, underlines the importance of a circular economy with its emphasis on giving new life to second-hand clothing.

Interactive elements extolling the Reduce, Re-use and Recycle mantra will be in place around the venue, as will refurbished items from New Life Furniture. There will be live recycling demonstrations and quizzes, along with food from local restaurant Yellow Warbler Coffee and an exclusive tasting workshop, ‘What Does Your Beer Sound Like?’, emphasising Estrella Galicia’s multi-sensory approach to their brewing methods. Tickets are currently sold out, but you can join the waiting list here.
