Suede have announced a new run of UK tour dates as they gear up to release their ninth LP on Friday (September 16).

The extensive run spans most of next March, as the Britpop stalwarts take their latest full-length, Autofiction, on the road. Kicking off on March 3 in Bath, the tour will go on to take in shows in Norwich, Guildford, Cambridge, Manchester, Nottingham, Sheffield, Aberdeen, Glasgow, York, Newcastle, Liverpool, Brighton, Birmingham, Cardiff and Southampton, before wrapping up on March 25 with a hometown show at Brixton Academy in London, 30 years on from their debut appearance at the venue.

News of the 17-date jaunt comes as Suede played two secret shows last week, at Moth Club in London and the Deaf Institute in Manchester, under the pseudonym Crushed Kid. Per a review of their show in the capital in The Guardian, the five-piece ran through Autofiction in its entirety; the album, the group’s first since 2018’s The Blue Hour, is out this Friday (September 16), and has been trailed by singles ‘That Boy on the Stage’ and ‘15 Again’, as well as the companion piece Autofiction: A Short Film, directed by Katie Lambert.

Autofiction is our punk record,” frontman Brett Anderson has said. “No whistles and bells. Just the five of us in a room with all the glitches and fuck-ups revealed; the band themselves exposed in all their primal mess.”

After a slew of instore performances and signings at record shops across the country this month, Suede will go on to play a short run of intimate European dates in October, including a pair of London shows at Camden’s Electric Ballroom – those gigs are sold out.

Tickets for the March tour go on sale at 9am on Friday (September 16), with a presale available from tomorrow (September 14) for anybody who pre-orders the album from the band’s online store.
