Jesse Jo Stark has shared the music video for her single ‘lipstick’, released alongside her debut album Doomed – watch the haunting new video below.

In the high-drama video, Stark wrestles with past relationship turmoil, restlessly levitating above a bed and thrashing in the pouring rain, while other moments show her tied up against a cross.

“The song is about the duality of love. relieves yer pain, yet causes you more,” the Los Angeles-based singer said of the track.

The singer’s debut LP Doomed is also out today, an album which “touches on the duality of life: love and pain, light and dark, glamour and horror,” Stark said in a statement.

The album, which features singles ‘so bad’, ‘modern love’ and ‘tornado’, was written by Stark and co-produced with Jesse Rutherford (The Neighbourhood, Benny Blanco) and Michael Harris (Haim, Angel Olsen).

A press release describes the new record as an 11-track “coming-of-age journey of self-exploration that traverses subjects ranging from heartbreak to female empowerment, power dynamics, self-acceptance and, most of all, love”.
