Nick Cave fans flock to charity shop after singer donates 2,000 books
The owner of the Hove shop described a “very interesting” and “wide ranging” selection from the singer's personal collection

Nick Cave has donated 2,000 books from his collection to a bookstore in Hove, with fans now flocking to the site to pick up a new read.
As The Guardian reports, the Oxfam bookshop in Hove, East Sussex has been inundated with fans after Cave dropped off thousands of books from his own collection. The Times adds that the books include books by Johnny Cash, Salman Rushdie and more.
Speaking to local paper The Argus, a bookshop employee described the collection as “very interesting” and “very wide ranging”.
He added: “There’s philosophy, art, religion, even old fiction paperbacks. It’s an incredibly varied donation. He clearly held on to his books, some of them are quite old.”
Fans flocking to the shop have found passages of books underlined by Cave, as well as seemingly accidental personal trinkets, including plane tickets, notes written in his handwriting and empty cigarette packets.

Nick Cave released his new album with the Bad Seeds, Wild God, last year, and has been touring behind the record with accompaniment from Radiohead‘s Colin Greenwood.
“I hope the album has the effect on listeners that it’s had on me,” Cave said of the band’s 18th stuio album. “It bursts out of the speaker, and I get swept up with it. It’s a complicated record, but it’s also deeply and joyously infectious.
He added: “There is never a masterplan when we make a record. The records rather reflect back the emotional state of the writers and musicians who played them. Listening to this, I don’t know, it seems we’re happy.”
