Olivia Rodrigo’s second album is ‘so close to being done’
The singer has just celebrated the two year anniversary of her debut album 'Sour'

Olivia Rodrigo has said that she has nearly finished her second album.
The singer gave an update on the progress of new music in an Instagram post where she reflected on her 2021 breakthrough album Sour on its two-year anniversary.
“oh man oh man oh man. SOUR turns 2 years old today. no words could ever describe how much this album means to me and how insanely grateful I feel for every blessing it has brought into my life,” the post began. “the new stuff is so so so so so close to being done I pinky promise 💓”
Rodrigo previously teased her second album back in January, when she posted a video to her social media showing her working on new music. The brief, black-and-white video on her Instagram story showed her headbanging along to piano chords played by her producer, Dan Nigro.
“Working on so many new songs I’m excited to show u,” Rodrigo wrote alongside the video. “Thank u for everything.”
Rodrigo confirmed to Billboard back in February 2022 that she had already decided on a title for her second album. “I just love writing songs,” Rodrigo said at the time. “I’m trying not to put too much pressure on myself [and instead] just sort of explore and have fun right now.”
Meanwhile, in an interview with Elle the following month, Rodrigo also touched on the topic of album two, saying she was “so excited to make my next record and explore more colors and textures and feelings and grow as a human being even more.”
Work evidently began on the album in August, when Nigro shared a selfie of the pair taken by Rodrigo in which he can be seen holding an acoustic guitar.
