Skepta and pioneering US DJ Kerri Chandler will lead the line-up at the opening of a new Central London music venue later this month.
77 is located underneath Marylebone’s The BoTree hotel and is billed as a “high-spec destination designed for deep sonic visual immersion and real dance floor connections”.
Rolling Stone UK can now exclusively reveal that New Jersey deep house pioneer Chandler will perform a full set on Friday September 26, with support from Puerto Rico-born DJ Daisybelle.
A day later, grime icon Skepta will take to the 77 decks with an eclectic DJ set to cement the venue’s opening, with support coming from tech house DJ Meeshy and electronic producer OSSIE.
Eniz Hilmi, Director of Music, said: “We’ve designed 77 to deliver the same world-class production experience you’d expect from a huge venue, whilst ensuring the connection between the artist and the audience is at the forefront. Our focus is on creating a one-of-a-kind experience where both DJs and live acts can truly connect with the crowd. That’s why we’re thrilled to be welcoming Skepta and Kerri Chandler for our opening weekend – two artists who embody everything we stand for.”
According to an official release, the venue’s full soundproofing allows it to become an “adaptable setting for club nights, album launches, fashion events and brand activations. Every detail, from the modular design to the service style, has been shaped to heighten connection between artists and audiences.”
Behind the venue is nightlife veteran Jonathan Wade, Rinse FM tastemaker Eniz Hilmi and hospitality boss Sebastian Banovic.
