Griff makes performance personal with ASICS SportStyle
The Gel-Cumulus 16 gets reimagined with ribbon laces
Dance is deceptively graceful until you realise the discipline required to make it look effortless. That tension is exactly what makes it so captivating, and it’s the foundation of ASICS SportStyle’s collaboration with Griff.
Continuing her longstanding collaboration with the sportswear giant, Griff’s take on the ASICS SportStyle Gel-Cumulus 16 arrives in a sharp black colourway, elevated by bold ribbon lacing that channels both elegance and control. It’s a subtle nod to dance: strength hidden beneath softness, precision wrapped in fluidity.

The design plays with contrast. Layered textures bring a sense of softness, while the silhouette holds its structure. Comfort and form collide, a reflection balancing comfort with form. It’s a reflection of Griff’s own styling instincts, in which pairing socks with loafers or mixing silhouettes creates something familiar yet reimagined. Here, that same energy translates into a trainer that feels wearable, but never predictable.
Developed over 18 months, the collaboration moves beyond aesthetics. It’s a genuine fusion of performance and personal expression, blurring the lines between sport and style in a way that feels natural rather than forced.

“I wanted the shoe to feel like an extension of my everyday style,” Griff says. “Playful and elegant but also comfortable… something I can style from studio days to performing on stage to simply living my life.”
To celebrate the launch, a pop-up in Hackney – designed by architect Kat Milne – will run from 12 to 14 June, offering an immersive space to explore the project.
The ASICS SportStyle Gel-Cumulus 16 by Griff drops on 12 June at asics.com.
