With World Cup mania officially in full swing, England has reason to celebrate, with team captain Harry Kane now holding the title of highest-scoring English player in World Cup tournament history. Surpassing Gary Lineker’s long-standing record, Kane reached the milestone wearing Skechers Football boots, making it all the more fitting that the brand marked the achievement with a limited-edition release of its own.

Reimagining the SKX_2 Elite FG model in a striking red and white colourway inspired by England, Skechers created a commemorative design titled Walthamstow to the World. Only 26 pairs were produced, each one individually numbered and released via a raffle exclusively through Pro:Direct Soccer last week.

Within hours of release, the drop had cemented its status as a modern collectable, with pairs already surfacing on resale platforms such as eBay for upwards of £700, underscoring the cultural weight attached to the moment.

But the tribute sits within a much broader partnership. Since 2023, Skechers has worked closely with Kane on a growing performance-led collaboration spanning elite on-pitch footwear and off-pitch lifestyle apparel.

The SKX_2 Elite FG boot, worn by Kane across key international fixtures, has become central to that relationship – engineered for speed, stability, and precision, while evolving in a range of colourways that now chart different stages of his career.

What makes this partnership significant is not just its commercial reach, but its timing within football history. As Kane continues to redefine English scoring records on the world stage, the Skechers mainline collection has become quietly archival in its own right. Pieces that are both functional performance wear and markers of a specific sporting era.

As with many athlete-led collaborations that blur the line between utility and cultural artifact, these designs are increasingly viewed through a collector’s lens. In that sense, Skechers’ Kane era is not only about performance on the pitch, but the creation of objects that will come to define this moment in sport.
