j-hope’s custom Louis Vuitton trainers are finally here
Originally designed for the Arirang World Tour, the pink suede LV Buttersoft makes the move from stage to street
There are plenty of perks to being a Louis Vuitton brand ambassador. For K-pop star j-hope, who’s been working with the brand since 2023, one of them is getting a custom pair of LV Buttersoft trainers from menswear creative director Pharrell Williams.
The collaboration between the BTS member and Louis Vuitton was first unveiled last year following the announcement of the Arirang World Tour. Originally designed to accompany the musician’s tour wardrobe, the pink suede design draw directly from his personal style. Now, fans worldwide can pick up their own pair.
Initially introduced as part of the Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2025 menswear collection, the Buttersoft trainer blurs decades of design influence, notably the aerodynamic lines of 1960s track trainers and the bulky proportions of early 2000s skate shoes. The result is a rounded, softened silhouette anchored by chunky laces, balancing retro references with contemporary streetwear.
For j-hope, Pharrell Williams reimagines the silhouette in rose pink suede, layering in fan-service details throughout. As a nod to his stage name, “Your, My Hope” finishes the wide woven laces. Beneath the heel, a hidden set of charms – a squirrel and acorn – adds a subtle layer of symbolism, instantly recognisable to devoted fans.
Elsewhere, motifs central to Louis Vuitton’s design heritage come through. Leather caps at the heel and toe echo the protective finishing found on the house’s iconic luggage. Inside, a textile label adapted from the Louis Vuitton Speedy P9 bag appears on the underside of the tongue, while the exterior features a leather patch embossed with a dedicated logo combining the Louis Vuitton Paris stamp and j-hope’s signature.
With the Buttersoft trainer, Louis Vuitton delivers a design that balances personality with craft. For j-hope, the sleek silhouette is brought to life with a welcome dose of colour, rounding off a collaboration that moves seamlessly from stage to street.
