Louis Vuitton is making 2026 a year-long celebration of its Monogram canvas
Marking 130 years of the brand’s iconic emblem, three special edition collections reinterpret the iconic pattern
When it comes to instantly recognisable logos, the Louis Vuitton Monogram tops the list. Georges Vuitton designed the emblem in 1896 as a tribute to his father and the brand’s founder, drawing on late 19th-century trends, notably ornate Neo-Gothic motifs and Japonisme-inspired florals. While it was born as a status symbol of the European elite, the Monogram has since transcended class, crossing the globe and embedding itself in pop culture.
In its 130-year history, the Monogram has served as a canvas for the world’s creative renegades. Notably Harlem designer Dapper Dan, whose bootleg designs embedded Louis Vuitton into the world of hip-hop and streetwear throughout the ’80s and ’90s. Elsewhere, the brand’s numerous creative directors have offered the Monogram as a canvas for contemporary artists including Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince and Yayoi Kusama.

To celebrate this expansive history, Louis Vuitton is dedicating 2026 to the Monogram with three special-edition collections. Timeless silhouettes like the Keepall, Speedy and Alma speak to both the longevity of the emblem and the enduring appeal of the bags themselves.
Re-editions of the iconic Monogram Multicolore, originally designed by Takashi Murakami, headline the celebrations. The Japanese designer’s playful reimagining of the Monogram debuted in 2003 under then creative director Marc Jacobs, giving a new generation the opportunity to experience one of the house’s most defining collaborations.
Louis Vuitton Monogram Anniversary Collection

Pulling directly from the Maison’s immense archives, Monogram Origine reimagines the icon as a jacquard weave. Inspired by a 1926 client ledger, the collection transforms the historic pattern into a modern graphic outline, meticulously stamped across Louis Vuitton’s signature canvas.
Meanwhile, the VVN collection pays homage to Louis Vuitton’s leather goods. Each design is crafted from natural cowhide, allowing the leather to develop its signature patina over time. This rich, evolving finish highlights the material’s quality and individuality, giving every piece a unique character that evolves over time.

Finally, the Time Trunk collection turns Louis Vuitton’s storied heritage into a masterclass in illusion. Through bold trompe-l’oeil printing, the designs mimic the textures, stitching, and metallic hardware of the Maison’s historic trunks. Every detail is a nod to over a century of meticulous craftsmanship, blending tradition and creativity so seamlessly that your eye might do a double-take before your hand realises it’s all canvas.
Each of the three special-edition collections for 2026 celebrates Louis Vuitton’s enduring legacy of craftsmanship and style. In reimagining the Monogram while honouring the brand’s past, each special-edition piece becomes a bridge between history and modernity – proof that true design isn’t just made to be worn, but to stand the test of time.
