Tom Ford Ombré Leather Reserve is already arena-approved

There was no better way to experience Tom Ford Ombré Leather Reserve for the first time than at The Weeknd’s show at Wembley. In the brand’s stadium suite, between the heatwave and the pyrotechnics, the air was already electric – and the latest addition to the Ombré Leather family fit right in.

Unlike the scents that came before it, Reserve evolves without sacrificing the line’s signature masculine DNA. Crisp pine and cypress take us from the arid desert plains to the pine-laden forests of the Chisos Mountains, where the brand exclusively collects the aroma of Silver Juniper.

“Ombré Leather Reserve is an exploration of West Texas with its vast raw beauty and textured contrasts,” explains perfumer Sonia Constant. “The black leather signature has been intensified with a new deep black leather accord.”

The framework of the scent remains recognisable but elevated. The new leather accord is balanced by the dry, earthy sophistication of vetiver. Punctuated by the invigoratingly green opening, each spray evokes the chillingly luxurious leathers from the brand’s latest runway collection rather than a cowboy’s well-loved, weathered hide.

As the show went on and Reserve dried down, the dew-laden chill gave way to a deep woodiness. ‘Cedarwood and two facets of sandalwood bring a warmth, adding a strong, magnificent richness to the Ombré Leather story,’ says Constant.

First introduced in 2018, the scent inspired by Texas cowboys has already earned its palce in the fragrance hall of fame, perfectly balancing the rugged sex appeal of leather with spiced warmth and patchouli.

While its successors, like Ombré Leather Parfum and Eau D’Ombré, have reworked the concentration of the quintessential leather scent, with Reserve, Tom Ford is introducing a new landscape altogether, one defined by pine, juniper, and cool mountain air.
