Topman has our summer fits sorted 

For those lucky enough to have experienced Topshop in its heyday, the memory of its eclectic, style-packed Oxford Street flagship still lingers. Its relaunch last summer acted as a welcome reminder of that spirit – a return to form, updated for a new generation.

Now, Topman follows up with Drop 02 just as temperatures start to rise. From spring breezes through peak summer sun, the collection brings together effortless essentials with just the right dose of quirk.

“Designed in London, Drop 02 has been developed for real summer plans,” says Lead Designer Terrence Bell. Describing the collection as “designed to be worn, lived in and shared”, he points to its versatility, with pieces that flex with the unpredictability of summer. 

Warm-weather essentials form the backbone with standouts like wide-leg linen trousers and baggy fit cargo shorts. The latter hemmed with a utilitarian toggle, playing with the shorts proportions. 

It’s the proportions that really define the collection. The breezy, relaxed fit of the shirts and barrel-leg trousers creates a clear sense of ease, with designers using volume intentionally to shape the silhouette without making it feel heavy or forced. A design ethos that extends to Bermuda shorts and sporty polos.

Of course, the standouts nod to the brand’s long-standing eccentric streak. Floral bouclé brings texture to classic camp-collar shirts, while a printed garden scene adds an artful twist to a shirt made for wandering from gallery to gallery, or wherever the day leads.

Ultimately, Topman proves that ease and eccentricity don’t have to sit at opposite ends of the wardrobe. It’s a wardrobe that feels effortless at first glance, but reveals its character with unexpected detail.
